Should a Convertible drivers window slightly drop to open door ?

Hi I have a 2005 1.6 Convertable but the small problem I have is
Should the driver or passenger window drop slightly as the door opens as when you close the door and start the car you have to open n close to get the window shut properly.
Thanks anyone who can help

Re: Should a Convertible drivers window slightly drop to open door ?

1)I recently purchased an audi TT mk1(2003).
Tho not a convertible,it has no upper doorframe.Ie the window upper edge is the upper edge of the door.
If the window is fully up,when the door is opened it should drop 5 mm on opening. Then on closing the window should wind up the 5 mm or so to the seal.

2)The passenger side on mine did that, drivers side didnt (cos it got more wear).

3)soln was to disassemble doorlock which has a microswitch, the microswitch rubber cover was worn so a strip from ye olde flora margarine tub, held in place by microswitch clamp solved the problem.

If your passenger side works ok..see what mechanism energises the window up down thing and repair the d/s..mho
