Red face Renault Laguna 1 - Tailgate Release And Heater Controls

Hi there, purchased a 2000 laguna 1.8 sport estate yesterday from a trader near Swansea. Tailgate latch stuck shut, but no fear i am being sent a replacement latch assembly in the post, because one of the white plastic levers that attatch the latch to the central rotary unit has sheared- poorly manufactured! Already have old latch off today, Awaiting new part.
problem is connecting the lifting rod from the latch to the central rotary unit ( the one which services both the main latch and the tailgate window lock) is adrift.
This i would describe as about 8 inches long has a hook at the base, at the top a thread into a holder with an arched shaped pressed steel bracket attatched that has a magnetised cylinder on it this bit can rotate 360 degrees and looks like it sits on the central rotary unit.
All i have is a handful of screws with no idea how the thing is attatched. Anyone got any workshop diagrams?
The cut out on the inside of the tailgate directly above the main latch also appears to have a small connecting rod (missing) As an educated guess i would say this is the thumb press of the lock directly to the latch when the tailgate isnt locked electronically, how much of the gubbins have i got to buy? again a diagram of the whole system would be a great help.
Also one to fix before the spring comes-fan dial (first one of the 3 on the centre console) can only get air blowing to window or air blowing to window and footwell-all the other positions it wont go to, just keeps springing back to the above-mentioned! please tell me those wizards at Lyon havent rigged the fan controls with a wire and pulleys cos it seems i'm suffering a wrap-around! anyone had similar- is it dashboard off and a bodge DIY job or Renault dealer only repair? Me thinks these two are not unique- fan dials and latches failing to most models seem common
