Angry Espace IV door handle and lock mechanism.

My Espace recently stopped letting my kids in. No bad thing, it just meant that I had to reach over and open the rear passenger side door from the inside. That wasn't a problem until I find out it fails it's MOT for not being able to open the door using the handle. So... After removing the door panel and investigating I see no way to access the inside of the handle through the gap provided.... I drill out a couple of rivets and remove another panel on the door... Not my tidiest ever work, but now I can see the nipple on the end of the boyden cable has disappeared.

My questions, two of.

1. How do I remove the door handle so I can reattach a new cable?

2. Which other locking mechs will fit as I assume I will have to purchase a whole lock. Looking on eBay , the megane one looks the same but will its cable be too short to the interior handle?

Any help is appreciated before I go to the scrappies and start ripping any 04 onward renault apart!
