I've always managed to get by with a small three leg bearing puller....
But the screw type ball joint splitter does seem like a better bet then the light/flimsy looking pullers of same design for wiper arms.

Yes I got one of them to do mine, fortunately didn't need it tho, wiper arms practically fell off by themselves. HOWEVER after I hinged up the arms so not pressing on the windscreen, as the spring puts a sideways force on the spline making it tight.
