Morning all, just registered and hoping someone can help me out with two problems we have with our Espace.
Drivers door lock
A while ago we discovered it wasn't locking and so I took the panel off to investigate. A somewhat heavy handed approach in dismantling the original door lock mechanism meant £96 and a new part (82 00 017 968) was needed.
The unit is sealed and has two cables to connect to the remaining door components. The longer of the two cables connects to the inside door catch and it is obvious how that fits. The shorter of the two cables connects to the outer door handle machanism somewhere. HOW ON EARTH does that outer door handle remove from the door to reveal the cavity where that cable end will sit in?
Biting point on the pedal varies from normal to virtually no resistance with the pedal down to the floor. The latter usually occurs after a prolonged motorway drive.
What's going on here - it's had a replacement spring fitted by the dealers apparently as part of a factory recall. It's also had a replacement clutch cylinder a couple of years ago. I've never known a car use so much DOT4 fluid (and dealers confirm this is ok to use?) but can find any visible leaks.
I've picked up a new clutch cyclinder (8 200 039 837) as I assume that they are a weak part and just don't last the distance. Has anyone another opinion on this?
Spare key card
There's a guy on
that advertises being able to repair damaged cards. Our spare was bitten by the previous owners dog so does register on the display but throws an error code. Apparently he's confident that this can be repaired (£25 ish). Has anyone any experience of this. Certainly a cheaper option that the £150 required by the dealers.
