Angry re: Fuel filler flap removal **Sorted**

Don't know what's going on but I lost the post again.
Anyway........ If you open the filler flap you can see the heads of two bolts approximately 10mm. These are sitting inside recesses on the hinge molding. At first couldn't see anything in the wheel arch, but after removing the splash guard and giving it a good hosing you can see how it goes together. After scrapping off the mud you can see two nuts on the other end of the bolt's. Unfortunately due to their position in the wheel arch they have become one with rust.
This also is one of the few places that does not have any underseal on it. Hence the rust coming through the other side.
I'll have to try and cut them off to do the work.
Tried to upload some photos but it wasn't having any of it.

It might be worth asking those who have the part for sale, which method they used to remove it, as they may have another option which is less damaging.

Hi Paul
I can't see any other way, than to cut the bolts inside the wheel arch. Should be able to get in with a Dremil type tool.

re: Fuel filler flap removal **Sorted**

I was about to advise you to beware of sparks near the fuel tank - and then I saw your Clio is a diesel.

Sounds like a plan indeed.

BTW, when you mentioned that you couldn't find your thread, it will only appear in your User Dashboard if there has been an update posted on it, if you were the last person posting on it, you'll need to find it under Search, then My Threads and Posts.

Best wishes,

Paul

re: Fuel filler flap removal **Sorted**

Appreciate the fire safety advice Paul.
I'll be coating the area with flame retardant gel beforehand first. Not keen on working in that area anyway.

As for loosing my post, your right again. Unfortunately I preferred the old interface.

Will have to leave this for now as I am replacing a drive shaft and other bits on number two sons Clio tomorrow.
