Thing is Paul you say remind yourself it's an old car..

Some lot newer cars wouldn't have treated you as well on the road trips you've had with mpg etc.

Regardless of age mate if your lucky enough to drop on a decent car that's all that matters

Looks really tidy,, think you have done a cracking job.
It could not have been easy at your age Paul ...
Shaking that can must have made your arm ache

I think, aesthetically, car design is so interesting - the dashboards, the steering wheels, and the beauty of the mechanics. I don't know how any of it works, I don't want to know,

Re: Grasping the nettle (at last)

The wife doesn't 'like' the car (it's a bit too utilitarian and Noddy-like) for her taste - she prefers the R, but it's perfect for a young family, with an almost 'hose-clean' interior, and it's surprisingly capable.

An example; we decided (on the day), to go to Blackpool last weekend Sat & Sun - returning home Mon (v. late).

The B & B stated parking available (which was only accessible, via a very narrow lane between buildings).

We managed, but a good part of the R wouldn't!

So, I think the OH has a 'grudging' respect for it, but she refuses to drive it - which suits me.

Nailed the final spot of corrosion yesterday (just beyond the rear wheelarch), but since the 'after' pic includes the business details, it would be unethical of me to post it, as I would be advertising.

Suffice it to say, job-done!

This job should never be complete - the day I think I've done it all, is the day I resign.
