Replacing a rear passenger door on a mark 1 Scenic

As the title suggests.

Removing the door bolts shouldn't be a problem but will I need any specific tools or is there anything I need to be aware of with the internal mechanisms, electrics etc in the door?

Obviously I'll be careful tightening the new bolts back on to ensure the door aligns correctly etc but are there any guides or videos on removing/replacing mark 1 Scenic doors?

there may be a video on youtube
if you have no electric windows it should be an easy swap
if it has got electrics it will be a hunt for the connector block some are inside the door and you just unclip the rubber grommet and slide out the cable

When fitting even if you have help may be worth getting something under the door to support to help aligning it ..i tend to use a trolley jack with a block of wood ...even the best person trying to hold the door will be unsteady
Dancingdad and funkoval like this.

It is easier to take it apart than to put it back together

Re: Replacing a rear passenger door on a mark 1 Scenic

I've fitted a rear-door by myself before.

It wasn't easy, but achievable.

The best tip I can offer is to lower the window of both doors (the one being removed and the one being fitted), as this allows you to rest the door frame on your shoulder, and allow bolts to be seated & hand-spun.

I would also suggest using a marker pen to indicate the upper & lower ends of the hinges, so that once-fitted, the door will only need minor adjusting, if at all.

HTH,

Paul

This job should never be complete - the day I think I've done it all, is the day I resign.
