So I got someone to pull the leaver and I worked the catch under the bonnet and it opened, so the cable moves back and forth and the half moon moves back and forth with the cable so why isn't the top catch working?

sound like lubrication.


Give it a good oiling and check it thoroughly before closing the hood back down.


Now your next issue is why did the battery go flat ?

Nothing broken / fallen off then? Try soaking it with WD40? (Other brands are available)

The car is sorn and laid idle for 3 months so guess it's that
