Laguna III fuel cap assembly removal (not just the flap)

The fuel filler cap on my 08 plate Laguna III would not open. but I was able to remove the trim cover and get the filler cap flap open at the petrol station by manipulating the internal latching pin inside the fuel filler cap.

It looks like the moveable latch inside the flap is broken. It is not biased in any position and just flaps around freely, up and down (engine off).

Having unscrewed the six TorX screws and removed the two small plastic trims, how does the complete assembly get removed from the car. It does not seem to clear the two horizontal steel brackets, top and bottom, formed by the exterior bodywork into which four of the six TorX screws are bolted?

It does not come out through the inside boot area as there is an inner flitch plate ?

Found it. all from below
Take the under wheel arch panel off,,, this will only allow you to remove the motor.. no mention of anything else.
Disconnect the lead, and you will see a nut, that the actuator is held on with,
Undo and take out from under neath

Thanks for that reply, I will try and get at it in the morning. I didn't know there was a 'motor' involved when you open the fuel filler cap ?

Before you start ...I had similar issue with mine and was in petrol station cursing and swearing and boot full so drove to destination unloaded car ready to pull at manual release but thought try again first ..nope so pressed lock unlock nothing ...preseed unlock again and hey presto all working again ..went for fuel wouldnt open then pressed unlock on key fob again it opened ..locked it pressed unlock once nothing pressed unlock again it worked ..may not be your issue but worth a check
