Thats it, make enough off the other one.
Thats a 250 repair around here at the most,

Had a quote on daughters car, one place 400, one 250, ended up taking it to a guy who is always busy, quoted me 100, told him, would give him 200,
Daughter dropped car off, went away on her holiday, he had 7 days to sort it.
So no real pressure.
Picked it up on the Friday, lad went to wrong side of the car, as he could not believe it, Black Ford Fiesta, same as StuJ's...
Granted the edge was not damaged, but the dent was as bad if not worse.
Someone, drove into it, while it was parked at the garrison.

I think, aesthetically, car design is so interesting - the dashboards, the steering wheels, and the beauty of the mechanics. I don't know how any of it works, I don't want to know,

my kinda idea was to just pop rivet the panel like put 3 pop rivits in and hold the panel in place then weld it when I got it right..

or does that sound like a bad idea.

if I was to use a slide hammer on it I take it I would have to drill small holes down the side of the inside of the door to put something in to pull on.

Totally agree
So find out if you can get behind it in any way?

The stick on pullers work on simple dents and can be very good.
Get a dent in a corner where it is supported and takes a bit more welly then they will provide... which seems to be what your man found out who tried them.

If there's reasonable access once the interior trim is removed is it better to push the dent out? Can you use something like a metal roller or a mallet and blocks of wood to work the dent out to a better shape than pulling?

Don't take without giving in return
