The problem is that the clips on the early version also act as pulleys and fitting new cable into worn pulleys doesn't last very long. If you think 60 is expensive try pricing one at Renault although to be fair theirs includes the motor

it would be easier to replace the whole system as the cables are under tension, when this happend on my megane, I just got annother complete system from a scrapyard for 20, that included the motor but i only wanted the reel attached so it would retain the tension in the cables.

also if your cables have been chewed by the reel, they WILL pop out almost straight away, as they will no longer fit into the reel groves correctally

Red face

Just joined the forum as this matched the problem I have had. Scenic yr 2000 (Mk I, I thought, but now not sure after reading the drop down categories in the log in for this forum), and the cable mechanism on the regulator was a mess - cable seems okay, but I cannot really tell how it should look as everything is disconnected now. I assume a clip has broken as a couple of broken plastic bits in the base of the door.
There seem a few options for a new regulator on ebay for about 60-80 pounds, but I would appreciate the previously indicated link to a supplier that can be recommended (as some don't specify model of Scenic).
Looked at a few threads on replacing the clip for the Scenic II, at 3pounds each, but assume no similar parts exist for the I?

Thumbs up oh yes

I started this version of the megane scenic window problems so hopefully can help finish it with some good news. Firstly thanks for all the positive help on this one it helped me see these things do need replaced as the old ones are a lot of hassle to repair.

Called a guy through fleabay for information on these and eventually got him to supply them, again through fleabay. The upgraded MKI window regulators are far sturdier than the originals and at 43 each they were good value. whole job took around 2 hours per side as patience is a virtue with this one.

The door cards come of easily as long as you do not force them and the regulators are held in by 5 M10 nuts, 3 on the motor and 2 on the guide arm.

Only issue I had was the wiring as I had to fit the new connectors that come with the kits as the ones fitted to the car were a different fit configuration. I went by the logical thought that the left wire would replace the old left wire and so on "eh eh" no cigar but that only delayed me by about 20 minutes in total and they do come with new wire connectors so thats a bonus to normal.

Can provide detail on PM for anyone who wants the company details.
