so you're suggesting removing the pins rather than the bolts? in which case i assume there's a special tool for removing such pins as I dont have one around & secondly i assume i'd need replacement pins too? from motorshop or online?
Also guess the door card needs to come off to allow me to disconnect that bar to stop the door from swinging open & to remove the lock wiring.?

Unless the pins are worn there is every possibility they can be reused.
There is a special tool available but it not more more than a slotted bar which catches the head of the pin. You then hammer the bar to extract the pin. The special tool is made of special steel but you may be able to make something up yourself.
The stay detaches from the door pillar but you still may have to access the inners to disconnect the electrics.
