The piece you are refering to is usually called door steady it supossed to kepp it open until you are ready to shut it

I went at the door and for some reason it wasn't as bad on sat only rebounding a few times so I've left it for a few weeks as didn't have enough time to go at it right and I'm away over Easter. I think its when you close the door a catch goes around the bar attached to the door piller on the car. I'm pretty sure mine is worn.

As for the boot I was getting fed up of the screws loosening and my brother had the welder out one sat so I said &*% it, I'd try welding it! Best decision I made
