If it was a private sale, then its tough luck if its a shoddy repair, but if the car was purchased via a dealer, then you have redress under the sale of goods act even if the warranty has been invalidated by a repair which has fallen below expected standards.

Well said Paul, always there to help with great sound advice as always, cheers Donald

It was brand new from the dealership so if its a shoddy painter then its someone at renault. This is where I have my biggest problem with Renault and the reason i'm trying to find others that have had the same problem so I can say look here is however many others.

Are you saying you have owned the car from new and it has never been repainted since new. Regardless of what other people may have suffered I would expect the paint warranty to cover your problem. Are Renault refusing to cover the cost of repairs and if so what reasons have they given.

TBH vehicles being repainted (either partially, or in full), is not that uncommon.

Cars get damaged in transit, covered in bird droppings when in Vehicle Holding Compounds, Mayfly damage, pollution, etc.

However, what IS important, is that these repairs should maintain the integrity of the factory's paint shop, and be completely undetectable.

I was comissioned to inspect a clio 197, last year for a client who bought the car as an ex-demo, then noticed paint mismatches - turns out the dealer's bodyshop had done 'blow-ins' over panels which had been lightly scuffed.

Car was replaced, after the owner, quite rightly kicked up a major fuss (armed with my report).

Best of luck with this.

This job should never be complete - the day I think I've done it all, is the day I resign.

Yeh car bought from Renault with delivery milage only. Renault are saying that they have not painted the car at all but if they havent and I havent i'm unsure as to who has!! Not sure as to what to do now as I dont think I should have to pay to get a car fixed that I havent damaged and how I can prove to Renault that I havent ahd the car repaired.
