Paint bubbles on 2008 Laguna III

Big hello to all, sorry my first post should be to moan about my car.
I can see a couple of threads concerning faulty paint but would appreciate some feedback on my issue below. My car is only 5 months old and bonnet has started to bubble in top left hand corner. Car has been returned to Renault Kettering (its second home) who have sent pictures to Renault. I have been advised by Renault that they will not repair under warranty as it is caused by an 'outside influence'. Needless to say I am not happy, I have asked them to confirm what they mean and insisted on an inspection. I clean weekly with Autoglm products.
What do you think?

Hi there, and welcome.

An 'outside influence' essentially means some factor not due to a fault in the manufacturing process.

These can include; bird droppings, airborne pollution, solvent damage, stonechipping, etc.

It's impossible for me to say what's caused it, but I can understand why you are so aggreived, given the age of the car & the care you employ.

It is possible for you to appeal their decision, or for Renault Customer Services to offer assistance.

What you may well have to do to obtain this, however, is to arrange for an independent inspection (which you have to pay for), on the basis that if its a Renault blame, then they cover the cost of repair, plus the inspection.

My only concern is why only a small part of the bonnet has shown this defect - if it were due to a manufacturing issue, I'd be inclined to think the entire bonnet would be showing this finish?

And if, as you say - you clean the car weekly, then you'd have picked up on any other areas showing problems.

Is it possible that some form of malicious act could of caused this?

This job should never be complete - the day I think I've done it all, is the day I resign.

I had one small area (5mm round) of paint flaking on my 03 Passat. VW arranged for an independent inspection and it was concluded that there was a spec of contamination left on the metal prior to painting. So, a manufacturing defect can affect just a small area.

The key to being successful with mine was that the paint had not been broken, so it must have been under the paint in the first place, so the entire tailgate was re-sprayed under warranty.

Unfortunately, if the paint is broken, then they will always try and say that it was due to a chip.

Why do today what you can put off until tomorrow...

Wanna see what I drive? No pics of the latest Passat, but you can see the Scenic II here and the CB1000R here!

Previous Passat here and Bandit here.

Many thanks for taking the time to comment.
To answer some of your questions, I really am unaware of any 'outside influence' that could have caused this.
Car is kept in garage overnight and in private car park at work. I even park in top corner of Asda's car park to avoid trollies and door dings, sad I know!!
Difficult to see from photo but paint is not broken, damage is certainly coming through from underneath, no stone chips etc.
Matter has already been escalated to Renault Customer Service, I am waiting for their reply.
Since posting I have spoken with local trading standards who have been fantastic, apparantly all goods, cars included, should be free from material defects. Great news as car is less than six months old I am not required to even prove anything, seller has to provide evidence of outside influence not me.
Will keep you posted how I get on over next week or so.
