laquer peeled off

Hi guys and gals, i have a laquer issue with my 1994 espace, it has started peeling off in random patches all over the car, i have owned it for only a few months and keep it clean and polished (as much as the weather will permit). As you prob know my car has fibre glass panels so i was wondering if the principle would be the same as regards to rubbing down and respraying. Also the laquer seems to have a slight pearly finish, how would i find out the exact colour match? Cheers all

Hi there.

the principles are the same, but I would suggest getting the paint matched using colour chips rather than going by the paintcode alone.

Due to the car's age, unless you are painting the complete car - there will be some weathering of the colour, and you don't want mismatched panels.

The lacquer is just a normal one. Its just that its coming away in large pieces that makes it look different.

Hope that helps,

This job should never be complete - the day I think I've done it all, is the day I resign.

All I can suggest is to wax the area where the laquers damaged, the laquers job is to protect your paint, with-out it paint can deteriate quick. just put plenty of wax on it m8 thats about all you can do unless you get it resprayed of course.

Get it sorted before the winter though as winter is much more aggressive on cars.
