Petrol flap clips broken....

Hi there,

I have just bought an 04 megane sports saloon and the clips that holds the petrol flap shut are broken - not the locking mechanism itself, just the U shaped clip that holds the flap in place so it sits flush with the rest of the bodywork.

Is it possible to replace the clips or housing myself (not sure what the piece is called ) & how easy/expensive is it to do?

Many thanks!

I don't have the answer, but in my opinion and experience, i'd say Renault will only supply the flap as a complete unit.

A few months back I tried sourcing the clips from my Renault dealer for a mates car and was informed you had to purchase the complete door. My mate was able to fit a magnetic catch (the type used on household cupboard doors) using some epoxy resin type adhesive which holds the door in position when closed.

Tiger Seal and some spring clamps will do the job just a treat.

This job should never be complete - the day I think I've done it all, is the day I resign.
