Roof Bar advice

I am about to purchase some roof bars for my Laguna II SportTourer and wondered if anyone has any general advice on which ones to get i.e. Halfords, Thule, etc.

Also, do they come with some sort of rubber protector to stop them scratching the alloy effect finish?

Have a look through ebay for the genuine renault ones as they come up quite frequently,
they go for an average of 50 + around 10.00 p/p . To buy them from renault they are 104 +vat .

I'd have a look at, I bought some Atera roof bars for an E Class merc a couple of years ago. This place was cheap and Atera made the official Merc bars for a lot mor money!

They have a tool to tell you which bars fit your car.

Have you tried Towsure? I bought a pair from them for my Laguna Sports Tourer about 18 months ago. They fit well and have the rubber protector you mention. I think they were made by "Paddy Hopkirk" and cost around 50.

I have some Thule bars for our Tourer - yes they do have rubber surrounds that clamp around the rails. I paid approx 60 inc vat in total for the bars and feet. In my opinion Thule are top quality manufacturers and even in Halfords you can usually pick up Thule bars for not much more than online. If you have fitting problems there is a local branch nearby to take them back etc. The other advantage of Thule is that when you change your make of car you can usually re-use the bars and just have to buy a fitting kit.
