Bonnet Release

Hi, I've just bought a 'R' reg Megan 1.6e, and i can't open the bonnet. I tried pushing down on the bonnet while someone tries to open it and using a screwdriver to try and lever the catch open, both of which i read about on these forums. I've also tried taking the release lever off and pulling the cable itself, with no success.

Does anyone else have an idea of what to do?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Bonnet Release

best bet is to take it to a small garage and get them to shove thier arm up into the engine bay and release it from inside.
its one of those real PITA jobs where u really need to be standing under the car to do it right
shouldnt cost more than 20 to get them to do it. and it wont result in new dents inthe bonnet.

don't forget to have the relacement main cable and secondary (if there is one) with you when you take the car in to get the bonnet opened, as the last thing u want is to close it after its been opened, before you replace the cables and fix the latches.
good luck

Re: Bonnet Release

as a cheapskate can I add that once you have got your bonnet open an old wire coathanger and a pair of snips/pliers will make an ok release mechanism. It worked for my old Fiat Panda a few years ago.
