Renault Clio unusual problem

I'm not sure what exactly would be of interest but here goes - up till this year I owned an MG Midget (Molly) but sadly after 15 years' happy motoring she went to a new home, my husband drives a Golf GTi and I have a Renault Clio (2002) which is used by all and sundry - she is very well behaved usually and this is the first time I have had a problem that we cannot solve, so decided to ask all the lovely people who also have Clios if they can help. I'm not a a car nut but my husband is - so I'm just trying to get in on the act. The boot suddenly refuses to lock!!!!

Could be the boot lock motor solenoid has packed up or become seized. Could it be frozen even!!
You'll need to remove the boot interior liner for a looksee - sometimes a good shot of WD40 or the like may help.
