D69 Halfords spary paint

On repairing scuff marks on my son's Renault Clio II 2005, checked the paint code TED69 and purchased spray Aerosol from Halfords, (D69, Mercury Silver), unfortunately I found the paint is not a true match (darker, even after considerable shaking), Can anybody comment on this,
Is this the correct paint for this paint code?
Other silvers available for this model?
I originally approached my local Renault dealer and they do not make aerosols in D69, only touch up, thanks

take it back for a refund!!!

the BICYCLE shop doesnt do quality paint sprays!!!
the stock could be 1-5 years old and metalics dont age well on the shelf.

contact your local independent garages or local SMART as ask where they get their autopaint made up from, there will be a local small business that specialises in auto paint, metalics etc... have to be made up (mixed) before use, and will have a shelf life of maybe 6 months.

take you paint code down there and they can make up a tin of spay paint while you wait for about 10-15 a 400ml can.

Spare parts available for 2001 Scenic 1.9Dci, 97 Lag1, 02 Lag2.

Re: D69 Halfords spary paint

Sadly I have yet to see a paint from Halfaruds to have a good match. Could either be their paint system or the skills of the assistants. Although when touching up any paintwork it not unusual to get a perfect match.

I have found two sites which list the colour - one says it called Gris platine M.2c - the other states it is mercury

See links below - they may be of assistance.

Re: D69 Halfords spary paint

D69 is Gris Platine.

A grey primer should be used.

I agree with Mord about sourcing a local independent shop who can provide such an aerosol, it is always better for paint to be made-up fresh.

There are 2 strains of this paint which can help explain why there is a shade difference - this local outley would have paint chips which could be used to determine which is correct for this car.

This job should never be complete - the day I think I've done it all, is the day I resign.
