Rattling Noise - Laguna 2

I can hear a rattling sound on my laguna 2 from the near side around from the middle of the car to the back wheel. I can hear it only when first the car is started then when I go over bumps on the road. First I thought it was the bumper so I tightened every thing but still the sound is there. I had a look under the car and checked the exhaust and it looked intacked and secure. If the exhaust is loose I should be able to hear the rattling all the time but I only hear it when I go over the bumps. When I give gas then let go of the pedal I can hear it somtimes. There are these plastic covers on the back wheels could this cause it. Any one else had this rattling noise?

The exhaust heat-shields are a common source of rattles

The heat sheilds - do they look like a metal sheet with holes like a sieve

Re: Rattling Noise - Laguna 2

Something like that....they are quite easily bent.
Try getting someone to start the car while you look underneath (dont put your head under tho..just in case )

Re: Rattling Noise - Laguna 2

The heat shields are the tinny type metal that runs above and inline with your exhaust. As Pat stated, get someone to start the car whilst you are looking underneath to get an idea of what section is causing the rattling

Currently in scatz's garage:
2004 Subaru Legacy GT Spec B, a 2013 2.0 TDCi Titanium X Sport S-Max and a 2001 Honda NSR125R
