Help with leak on my Scenic

Hi everyone. I am hoping someone will be able to point me in the right direction.

My problem is that my 02 Scenic is leaking water into the overhead switch unit that controls the sunroof(s) and map light, etc. I fitted a new aerial a year ago and had to tighten it once because it leaked slightly but I have now sealed it with silicone and I'm now convinced that the front sunroof is leaking.

I took off the control panel fitting overhead (I'm an expert at this now, I've done it so many times) but I just can't see where the leak is coming from. Is there a seal or a blocked valve or something else that I can check first? Has anyone had this problem before?

I found one person who had the same problem but the link someone suggested was broken.

Any help would be most appreciated.

Many thanks.

Re: Help with leak on my Scenic

Open the sunroof and have a close look into the corners for the drain holes they are known to block up. A gentle probe with a piece if curtain wire may just clear them. Give them a flush water should appear at the rear of the front wheels.

Re: Help with leak on my Scenic

Hi madnoel10. I also found this on a site as well:

"Scenic sun roof leaks (often coming out of overhead light console, or flooding footwells) can be fixed with a toothbrush, hot warm soapy water and some silicon grease.

Open the sunroof. With the toothbrush and hot water, throughly clean the felt seal that runs round the sunroof glass. Wait until dry.

Apply liberal doses of silicon grease to the newly cleaned seal. Close sunroof.

Check sunroof lies perfectly flat with seal just proud of the roofline. (No more than 1 or 2mm above). Adjust if necessary using torx keys to loosen the 4 mounting bolts, one at a time, moving the roof up or down a fraction as necessary. Close and wait for rain..."

I just rang Renault, they said the cost for 2 felt seals is around 34! Yes we're talking about 2 small felt seals, one front and one back I am presuming. I think I'll be trying the fix posted above!
