Damn Vandals!!

Hi all, I'm new here so i hope I'm posting in the right place (great site btw!)

My Laguna 2 was unfortunately attacked by some mindless idiot last night who has managed to wrench the N/S wing mirror so much so that the spring mechanism no longer works and the mirror flops about rather limply! i was wondering whether anyone knows of an easy fix or is it a trip to the scrapyard for me?

Thanks peeps

Re: Damn Vandals!!

it sounds like the easier option would be to replace the whole mirror. Who knows what damage has been inflicted to the gubbins of the miror assembly. It's probably an impossible task trying to purchase any broken parts separately anyway. I've had similar issues trying to repair a mirror on my old Lag. I opted very quickly for the scrapyard replacement.

Re: Damn Vandals!!

Hi there and welcome.

If the mirror works and you are finding it difficult to obtain a replacement in the correct colour, then the bracket can be repaired by using a product called Tiger Seal, which is a PU adhesive normally used to secure bodykits & spoilers to cars.

You apply it via a mastic gun, then need to somehow tape/secure the mirror in position for around a day for the adhesive to cure.

It doesn't form a brittle join, so its pretty good for plastics - I've used this myself for a couple of similar jobs (Rover 25 & VW Polo), so it may be a good contingency plan.

When applying - its a bit messy, so a cloth & thinners is the best bet to wipe away any excess.

This job should never be complete - the day I think I've done it all, is the day I resign.
