Megane 225....

I'm finding I'm increasingly fascinated by the Megane RenaultSport 225.

Trouble is, I can't afford to buy one yet, let alone run one in the longer term with the price of everything!

So, I'm toying with the idea of a replica, but doing this in my spare time as a bit of a hobby! I've quite literally just a couple of hours ago started looking at a few and think it's fairly do-able, but need your expert advice / opinons.

So far, and this is all hypothetically speaking yet, bodywork wise (in addition to making sure the car is the right colour for a 225 - might get a full respray anyway), I think I need:

1, Front Bumper;
2, Rear Bumper;
3, Rear Roof Spoiler;
4, Exhaust!

The giveaways would be the exhaust, the brakes and the alloys (alloys not so much as I could fit something similar aftermarket that would 'cover' the 5-studs as apposed to the standard Megane's 4-studs I believe).

With the exhaust, would I be faced with the same problem as the BMW M5's in that is the floor plan different on the 225 that allows the exhaust to exit centrally? I know on the M5 they done away with the spare wheel well. If this can't be done (and I won't be chopping out the wheel well), then this idea dies here right now!

And of course, would the bumpers fit? Are the arches the same on a 225 or flared?

Interior-wise, I would try to source the RenaultSport half-leathers but any black interior would do me just fine.

Has anyone done this? Is it do-able? I know it won't be cost-effective by any stretch of the imagination so I will try and weigh out all the costs before hand so that if I go down this route then I have a fair idea of my budget.

Re: Megane 225....

i've done this myself.

your cheaper to get you rear exhaust pipes custom made to fit you back box as this is cheaper then buying a 225 back box.

the arches are the same on every car

bumpers are a straight swop just stick with what ever phase 1 or 2 megane you have to save money.

replica wheels are important but the brakes look good as they are if you paint you calipers red.

the decal kit adds a good touch as is cheap off ebay

as for the interior just tint your windows slightly and leave it alone. you wasting alot of money on the seats as even in a 225 they look like a after thought with big chunky brackets

hope this helps
the tailgate spoiler is a waste of money and is hardly noticeable.

Re: Megane 225....

I can't help, but I just have to say that the SEXIEST woman in a Liquid Yellow F1 Team Mégane scared me out of the fast lane on the motorway today at 110 MPH. Wanted to catch her up, but it wasn't happening...

Re: Megane 225....

What about the Megane GT dCi?

2.0, turbo diesel, 150bhp standard, and would easily be 200bhp+ with a remap.

It has twin exhausts like the sport, sports seats and some other nice bits of kit

I think they are a bit cheaper than the 225.
