Renault Clio 2 - Key Locks Not Working

Recently acquired 99 Clio.

Two questions relating to door locks.

1) With the key I can lock the drivers door but not unlock it (there is no resistance when turning it). Will 'fixing' this involve taking the door apart and thus a lot of labour?
p.s. the key works fine on drivers side and in ignition

2) That same key will not even enter the boot lock. Did Clios have a separate key for the boot or is this a sign that the talgate has been changed?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Door Locks on Mk II Clio

When new all locks match one key so it very much looks like some of the locks have been changed.

Yes the door liner will need to be removed to investigate a door lock fault. The time to remove and repace the door liner should be no more than 30 minutes max by a fairly competent mechanic. Depending on the fault discovered obviously time will vary after that.

Re: Door Locks on Mk II Clio

It sounds like the locks have seized internally to me,especially the tailgate one.I'd try and spray some penetrating oil into them and leaving it to soak for a while and then try the key again, repeating this process until the locks are free should sort it.The tumblers in the locks seize due to lack of use thanks to the remote locking, periodically greasing the barrels will stop it happening.
