Clio IIi - Water Leaking into Footwell and it's been to Renault

Hello Guys,

I am seriously becoming annoyed with being an owner of a Renault Car, considering the amount of crap I had go wrong with my car.

I drive a Clio III 1.5dhci Dynamique (06). By 2007 when the clouds opened and the rain came down I noticed the passenger side foot well was damp one morning and it only happened once, so thought that maybe a bottle of water spilt somehow.

By 2008 the puddles became more frequent and I took it into Renault, who told me 'Oh sir, because you park under a tree, the build up of leaves clogs up the water outlets and we'll charge you a nify £140 to clear out the debri and drain the water' - to which I argued, when I bought the car, no one told me I can't park under a tree, otherwise I would not have bought the car! So they sorted it as part of a good faith or something.

In 2009, what used to be a damp spot in the morning was an inch of water, back to Renaul and well guess what, 'Oh sorry sir, your car is out of the 3yr warrenty period' we can't help you ... so now it's £180 to clear the debri (which I don't know how it's got there, as I don't park under a tree anymore) ... and well I decided to fork out the cash, get the job done .... and happy days.

Well we are in 2010 now and guess WHAT ... I feel like a real :loser: ... cause it's back ... honestly, I will never buy a renault again ... as far as I am concerned, it's crap and will always be crap as this water leak is just 1 of the many problems ...

Any idea's or recommendations of what I can do, or who I can take it to, aside from Renault themselves, perhaps a good honest garage ... in Surrey.

Thanks Rob

Soiunds like the drains in the windscreen scuttle panels are blocked again. It's not only Renaults that suffer such problems and it's very common on many makes of car this time of the year. My neighbours VW was flooded last week.
I suggest you get an decent independent garage to look at the problem if you can't do it yourself.
Not only should the drains inside the scuttle panel be checked but also their outlets which are usually behind the inner wheel arch covers on both fornt wheels.
Yes cars that are parked under trees do tend to suffer most as tress do tend to drop a gum like substance.
