I had similar problems with my Renault Master dCi motorhome. Starting was difficult after long periods of standing. The RAC started it with Easi- Start (they recommend Brake Cleaner, it's better) but I had a problem with the engine cutting out just as I get into the traffic. It would die, start again and run for the rest of the day.
I tried two Renault garages, one of them replaced a very dirty fuel filter, but no solution. An airlock kept appearing in the clear fuel pipe. I started checking fittings and found the bottom of the squeeze bulb had a split. Not big enough to cause a total failure, but enough to draw in some air.
