Re: Renault Clio 1.1 1.2 Dynamique
Thanks for keeping your thread updated. Is (was) the car a petrol engine model? It was quite a period of time between driving through water and the engine fire. Back in January did the engine stall after driving out of the water? Did it restart right away? Has the engine ran normally ever since? Holes in the block??...normally a con-rod causes this. Was a rod thrown? Could you have had water in the
which caused the main bearings to seize? The
must've reach the exhaust manifold or cat to find the high temperatures enough to ignite it.
Hope you get a fair insurance settlement....in this kind of incident you are better off looking at a total loss than a part damaged car having a rebuild, which may never have been 100% right after repair, especially on a 2 year old car.
Yes it was a petrol.
The car did stall only for about 20-30seconds though. (The water only went just past my ankles)
I'm not sure, someone I spoke to said it was probably a con-rod. I don't think I had water in the
- I had it serviced by Renault at 36000 miles on the 04/03/14 then the incident happened on 26/03/14.
I don't know if this would be a warranty issue or through my insurance?? (Really I'm sure its insurance, but oh well).
