Hi Sarah. I would totally disagree with your sentiments regarding purchasing a warranty. It should be remembered the type of warranty you are going for is basically a form of insurance. Maybe you're not aware that there are many rules and regulations regarding insurance to ensure both the buyer and seller are protected. One of the most basic and importanct rules of insurance is "the failure to disclose". This is where you are aware of an existing condition but fail to declare it at the time of making the contract. Insurers and the courts tend to take a very dim view of this and in certain circumstances is deemed to be fraudulent. It's basically this - they expect you be honest up front as I'm sure you would expect them to be with you. If you are prepared to bend the rules it is not fair on others using the same scheme who are after all contributing to wards any claims you are likely to make and why should the warranty providers be liable for poor service or repairs which obviously ocurred previously.
