Gearchange is fine and goes in pretty smoothly; it also had the gearbox oil replaced when they mounted the new clutch. Yes, I know what you say about driving on a narrow road but believe me, that's not how the turbo sounds, it's too discrete to be the turbocharger. My dad had a similar whining noise on his old skoda favorit and his mechanic told him it's some bearing in the gearbox; he didn't bother with it though and ran many miles like that, and I would bet it still runs today since he sold it. But anyways, it's always better to ask for opinions.
