No, the infra-red receiver was not coded for me, it just came straight from stock. Looking at the circuit board of the receiver, it is just a dumb device that does nothing more than amplify the infra-red signal it receives from the key and sends it on to the engine management computer. The receiver unit does not contain any intelligence or memory.
So the infra-red receiver will work with any key, but of course the codes in the key still have to match the codes in the engine management computer. In my case the only fault was the water damage to the receiver. My keys and EMC still contained the correct codes. Those codes were not lost by renewing the receiver.
