If I understand you correctly you have the rear diff removed and also the drive shafts that have the toothed ABS ring on?

If this is the case the ABS warning light should come on as the rear wheel speed sensors will not be getting a signal.
I would assume that the strange braking behaviour you are noticing is because of this.

Best hurry up and get it put back together.

> click on "Edit Your Details" at the top Left hand side.
> scroll down to the "What's current in your garage?" box and enter your vehicle details.
> Once the details are entered scroll down to the bottom of the page and click "Save Changes"

> Done.
