Check that a) you have Both keycards (if Mk3's have them). b) That they work individually.
We got caught with a duffer because both cards were on the same ring. That cost us 160 coz the duff one wasn't faulty, It didn't match the car.
Dephaser pulley (rattle on startup from cold).
Check MOT history to see if mileage suddenly drops, indicative of speedo failure (ours says 40K we reckon 70K in truth.
ANY nags on display, check handbrake, emissions, etc, Make the seller get it sorted, before handing over cash.
They are good cars. But some are neglected & that's where the problems IMHO arise.
