I'd start off with trying to take it on a good run first,getting the engine against the governor in second and third gear.This will clear the system out as I suspect it's just a bit clogged up.Make sure the
and coolant levels are OK and get the engine up to temperature before trying it,though.
If that doesn't cure it,then I'd contact a diesel specialist.We have a Lucas Diesel service centre near to us(in Yeovil,Somerset) who are excellent,it might be worth seeing if theres one near you.They offer great advice freely,and really know there stuff if you need to get them to look at it.
