What you also need to take into account is how often your dad is likely to travel in the car.

You'll be in it all the time and at the end of the day - you're the one paying for it.

I made a similar concession nearly 20 years ago, and bought a car with my parents in mind, rather than the one I really wanted. Within 2 months, my mum was in a wheelchair (after a stroke), destined to never be in any car ever again.

Fingers crossed, nothing similar happens with your family, but I learned the lesson of placing my own priorities at least as highly as that of others.
