Back when I had a SEAT, I used to get calls all the time from people (mates of mates etc) feeling they were being ripped off by a particular dealer...
Had a similar one where the digital parts of a dash on a Leon had gone blank. SEAT quoted £600 for new clocks...
I plugged it in to diagnostics - no faults... odd...
Disconnected & re-connected the battery - that was 18 months ago and it's been behaving ever since!!
Seems to be that if the diagnostics computer doesn't tell the spanner monkey exactly what's wrong and how to sort it, then they're stumped and take the easy option.
Just a shame there are so few actual mechanics around these days that show some initiative!
Some people say I'm stark raving bonkers, the others just smile and nod...
