The wheel hub/centre hole of wheel is described as the load bearing area and the bolts/studs are just to hold the wheel in position.
Youd think they do more than that but ,so it says.
So if your centre wheel hole isnt a snug fit on the hub,with spigot rings or otherwise, probly bad news.
Primarily the bolts apply a frictional force to the wheel against the hub similarly like the anglds faces of the inner bolt heads.
The whole world of engineering relies heavily on friction and the elasticity of metals.
