Faulty drive shaft turns out to be broken gearbox bracket
Guys finally got my car back this is the original problem post (EDIT;Threads now merged) , thought it was a drive shaft
so took it to a garage after checking boots and play in shaft nothing.
Mechanic said sounds like its the diff ooouch that sounds expensive gearbox will have to come off, gave me a contact to a gearbox specialist, so dropped it off left it with them for a couple of days and over the weekend get a phone call, right found the problem (sweating and biting nails in fear, this is gonna hurt my pocket) right its your gearbox mounting bracket it come apart, ok can you fix it yeah, how much, £14 for the sheared bolt £25 for bracket £1.04p for the washer. plus 2 hours labour , you should have seen the smile on my face Ive never been so happy to pay a mechanic after he told me that
what it was doing was when accelerating the gearbox was trying to move and knocking/vibrating on the mounting thats why the misses could feel it in her foot well. showed me the brackets and it was destroyed half of it was missing threads from the bolt imprinted into it from trying to move, anyway very happy with the outcome as I could have been looking at about £1000 instead it come to a total of £145 inc VAT
Currently in ethanol's garage:
