Cleaning the engine bay in home conditions, get yourself a tub of painters wipes or something similar like a bottle of spray degreaser & start scubbing, like RW says, i would not drown it in water/steam but do cover your driveway - i did that to a Rover V8 once & caused an oil leak
If it is really dirty around the EGR then clean around it first & see if dirt
re-appears, it may be leaking.
Condensation in headlights usually means the glass has lost it's seal to the light unit - no cure - new light unit
Milky haze on headlight plastic - i've tried 'mopping' mine with a buffing sponge & some G3 paint renovator (Halfords) - got a little better.
Some people swear by using toothpaste ? Have a search on youtube.
