Hi guy's,
One of the front tyres on my car needs replaced, and i don't want to take it to a dealer, or kwik fit:mad: because of the prices(225/45/17s).
Have i understood correctly in thinking that the valve should'nt be replaced?
Should they be the extra load tyres?

Lookin to spend around £80, any recommendations on tyres?

Cheers!!

The valve should be left alone, and the wheel needs to be put back on the corner it came off of,otherwise the pressure warning system throws it's toys out of it's pram!

Extra Load or Reinforced tyres are recommended by Renault, and although there have been arguements about this on the forum previously,I would definately fit these when replacing your tyres. They will offer more protection to the wheels, which in the case of the Silverstone alloys I suspect you have is very important as they are made of chocolate!.

Avon produce a budget tyre called a Millenium, and we have fitted many of these at work with no problems.I have a pair of them on the front of my Lag(although they are 205/55r16) and I'm very pleased with them.:)

These are made by Continental and cost around £70 each.... rated to 180mph.

Tyre Details

I have 2 on the front, when the back get low I will get 2 more, good tyres.

If you get your tyres changed anywhere but Renaults ( and don't do that it will cost a fortune) Tell the fitters before they start work it is fitted with sensors and not to try and rip out the valves as that's the first thing they do.

I have my tyre work (punctures and replacements) done at my local Renault main dealer now, for a number of reasons. They price match, they get the balancing right and the tpms work afterwards...Dave

Yep I have found that the local Renault dealer will be close to the price of the like's of kwik fit national tyre's etc,
but if it cost you a couple of quid extra its worth it.

You can always haggle with them I am sure the Renault dealer would want your custom as much as the tyre center.

Ended up going with the milleniums for £79 each (cheapest i could get them). Could've got them cheaper on the net but could'nt wait any longer.

Told the guy not to change the valves and put them on the same corner they came off. His reply was "it's ok i have done this before:rolleyes:" , he then looked at the valves and saw that they were rubber ones (are the sensor ones metal?), and told me that the pressure system can't be working. How much of a fool did i feel?

One less thing to go wrong i guess!!:d

Cheers again for all your advice

Hi i use barum bravus made by continental which i have used for a very long time and they are very good in wet, ice and snow and great on tight corners lots of grip and they have a extended side wall to protect your alloys from the kerb;If you go on google and put in cheap tyers the site will pop up near the top of the page and nation wide fitting and balancing included in the on line price; also try national tyers on the web they have an offer of buy one get one free on the barum bravus tyers hope this helps you out Gareth.
