Question Steering Column part number help

Hi Guys,
1st post here so cut me a bit of slack if needed.
I have a problem with my 54 plate Renault Scenic. 1.6 petrol Dynamic. It seems that the steering column has failed and Iíve been told by Renault that this is going to cost £1,403 to fix!!!!

I have got a reliable garage that can fit me a part from a breakers yard. If I can locate one

The part number off my steering column is 8200 035 273 then it seems to have the code ITG after it.

I have been contacted (via find a part) by a few breakers yard having in stock the part I need off a very similar model. The trouble is the part number is different. All of them start with 8200, but then have different codes after then e.g. 8200 246 633.

I donít want to order the part and find I have gotten something that wonít fit or work. Could anyone advise what the actual part number is I need?

Car details are:
  • RENAULT
  • SCENIC DYNAMIQUE 16V
  • 1598
  • 5 Speed Manual
  • Petrol
  • Year 2005

Many thanks all

Matt

Re: Steering Column part number help

the part alone (8200035273) is about £931 net price and usual price to fit a steering rack with dealerships is around £250 for a full dashboard stripout.

so a quote for £1400 is about right

do you know what has failed on the rack ?

btw that second part no. is £1031

what is the 1st 4 digits of the VIN ? as anyone checking will need the chassis version??? (JM##) ?

If the fault is electronic on the steering column, then unless the fault in the (electronic lock sub-module) is due to a mechanical sub compnent in it, then you will have to get a new column.

If its only mechanical then you may be able to getaway with just changing the mechanism and swapping the electronic module over. (the electronics module is pre-coded to the car and not interchangable)

I'm not familier with this part so have no idea if you could save money swapping sub components of the unit.the electronics module may have different mounting fittings.

if the weather wasnt so horrible out there, i might run round all the local yards and see if i can help find a matching part.
Currently in mord's garage:
The CreditCard Holes sooo DEEEEP NASA have put up warning signs about a black hole on the Driveway: update, the driveway and home have fallen in...
