I was wondering where to permanently position my GPS antenna? It's magnetic so it'll have to be to the body work, and I'd like to keep it out of sight.
So, behind the dashboard is the obvious choice. Does anybody have any experience with this?
It's for my Twingo, but any Clio 1/2 information would probably help.
It may be a magmount, but you don't necessarily have to use it as one. As long as it can see through uncoated glass (i.e. none of this athermic rubbish) it'll work every bit as well as it would outside the car.
I've installed a TomTom antenna kit in the Clio, and stuck the GPS antenna inside the sunroof using double-sided foam tape. It's completely invisible from the outside of the car, and only just visible from inside the car. It doesn't interfere with the sunroof operation (it's the tilt only sunroof, mind you) and gets a perfect signal from the satellites.
