Re: Noisy rear brakes on Twingo
Thanks for the replies, the car went in yesterday for this to be done and they said they stripped and cleaned but the noise was still there. They said try it for a week and they were convinced the noise will go,but im thinking new brake shoes?
Bought my Kangoo new and the rear brakes (drums) have been noisy from day one. I also took it back and they removed drums and cleaned out dust etc but didn't make any difference. They are particularly noisy when wet. I think it's just a poor design. They certainly brake ok and the linings last a very long time. I had one of the drums off recently and no sign of excess dust or leaks from the slave cylinder.
A couple of years ago I had to have both rear slave cylinders replaced. The drums were also skimmed and oversize shoes and linings fitted. Made absolutely no difference to the noise / wet / dry characteristics.
