Done it all my life and never had a problem
And never replaced a brake pipe, calliper or done any other work which involves opening the system and getting air in ?

On my Scenic I find I've had to bleed brakes even on a pad change. Especially the rear brakes which seem to get air in when screwing back the callipers.
But also firmed up pedal when I did the fronts.
Currently in Dancingdad's garage:
Qashqai 1.6 spark driven, Kia Sedona 2.9 TDI, Scenic II 15DCi 2004 (SORN) not quite RIP.
