I was actually told by a renault dealer that it is a safety feature and they would not turn it off.

Yes trying to stop you car and joining a busy motorway to see if you have a flat tyre because of a flashing light on your dash, and finding in most cases your tyre is fine, This is much safer then the good old way of feeling a flat tire as you drive and stopping when you need to.

I suffered from he corroded valve issue.
