If it's any consolation, I've helped to pursuade a colleague at work to defect from Volvo to Renault. He couldn't get an S40 of the spec he wanted, but the Laguna Initiale had the works. He was dubious about the diesel option at first, but having driven mine, apparently the 1.9dCi wipes the floor with the 1.8 petrol Volvo engine that he's used to.
Here's hoping that the car doesn't let the side down. The only trouble I ever recall him having with the Volvos was with the gearbox on one... and it was a Renault gearbox
The Laguna's reliability has supposedly come forward in leaps and bounds, and the worst thing I've had go wrong in 45K miles is a faulty button. If his is as good as this one has been so far, then I reckon he should be happy with it.
I have the V6 someone once told me it was a volvo engine , would that be correct ?
Also heard the tiptronic box is japanese
