Just found this thread as I have been having parking brake problems too - although mine was caused by the R2 connector. I'm still not quite fully sorted on my problem but if you haven't had your brakes looked at yet Sceniclover, here is something else you could try.
When you apply the EPB, pull the switch/lever/handle/whateveritscalled out again straight afterwards and it will wind up a little more. I believe this is if you park on a hill you can apply more braking force the same as if you pulled on a real handbrake with more effort.
Once you've done this second application, try your bootlid test again and see if the brakes wind themselves in more.
