As an aside.. the disc wear lip on mine, both front and back using the "finger feel" test seems to be more prounounced on the outboard disc edge.
I'm guessing your caliper pistons are just on one side? This would be the side to make contact with the disc first when you apply the brakes then the 'plain caliper half' would be drawn to the back face of the disc, so wear rates are normally uneven both sides.
